Embark on a thrilling day hike to Mount Longonot, one of Kenya’s most scenic hiking destinations. Located just 90 km northwest of Nairobi, this extinct volcano rises dramatically from the Great Rift Valley floor and offers panoramic views, rugged terrain, and a refreshing escape into nature.
The tour starts with an early morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel and a scenic drive to the park, with a brief stop at the Rift Valley viewpoint for photo opportunities. The 13 km trail takes you from the park gate to the crater rim, around the rim (optional), and back—usually completed in 5 to 6 hours.
As you hike, enjoy sweeping views of Lake Naivasha, Mount Suswa, and the crater’s lush forest interior. Spot wildlife such as zebras, buffaloes, and various bird species along the trail. The hike is moderately challenging, ideal for travelers with an active lifestyle.
